Spanning 2,755 effective hectares this property is a cornerstone of our livestock operation—renowned for its scale, performance, and innovation. Longrange is the breeding powerhouse of Horizon Farming, supplying top-tier replacement stock—both heifers and ewe hoggets—to other farms within the business. This strategic integration ensures consistent genetics, high performance, and quality livestock across all Horizon properties.
🐑 Livestock Policy
Longrange Station is a high-performing sheep and cattle breeding unit, running approximately 25,000 stock units. Our livestock policy is built on precision, performance, and quality:
- Mating 12,000 ewes, producing over 16,500 lambs annually
- Finishing 4,000 prime lambs to premium market standards, with remaining lambs transferred internally
- A composite ewe flock bred for resilience, productivity, and eating quality
- 600 Angus calving cattle, including 120 first-calving heifers
- Finishing around 250 prime cattle each season
- Breeding and growing replacement heifers and ewe hoggets to be transferred across Horizon Farming properties
